Lamar Odom 'checks into rehab' for drug and alcohol addiction

Lamar Odom has checked into rehab for drug and alcohol abuse, according to new reports.
The professional basketball player - who was recently arrested for allegedly driving under the influence - reportedly entered a facility of his own accord.

Following months of mounting tension and fierce speculation, Samsung has finally unveiled its Galaxy Gear smartwatch at the IFA conference in Berlin. The wrist-mounted device, pictured, runs Android apps and can sync with a smartphone to make phone calls and access the web. The Galaxy Note 3 is part-phone, part-tablet, called a phablet and comes in nine colours including jet black, classic white, blush pink, mustard yellow, mint blue and oatmeal beige.

Prince Harry was frantically rushed into a heavily secured safe-house during the Camp Bastion raid of September 2012 as 15 heavily armed Taliban soldiers ran amok in the British base, a new report claims.
The fourth-in-line to the British throne was serving at the base in Afghanistan when fighters dressed in U.S. Army uniforms unleashed a ground assault on September 14th and destroyed or damaged eight aircraft worth a total of $200 million.
Two U.S. Marines also lost their lives in the melee described as 'the worst loss of U.S. air-power in a single incident since the Vietnam War' and Captain Harry Wales, identified as a legitimate military target by the Taliban, survived the four hour battle that raged inside the base which had been thought to be impregnable.

20-yr-old Osarieme Omonuwa Bags First-Class In Reading University

The belief that Nigeria remains a land generously endowed with the brightest and best brains in the world was once more reaffirmed on Wednesday, July 3, when Osarieme Anita Omonuwa bagged a First Class degree in Law at Reading University in the United Kingdom.

Miss Omonuwa, 20, who hails from Edo State in Nigeria, also received the 2012 prestigious “Chancellor's Award” of the university for her outstanding academic performance.
THISDAY learnt that Omonuwa has, by the exceptional academic feat, become the first black woman to win the Reading University Chancellor's Award.


The chancellor of the university, Sir John Madejski, on the occasion of the award presentation last Wednesday, described Omonuwa as “representative of our brightest and best students”.

Like a harbinger of her uncommon academic glory in law, she had three years earlier, in 2010, earned the Reading University Scholarship Award for academic excellence and won recognition as the overall best in the International Foundation Programme.

Peter Obe Dies At 81 (Iconic Photographer)


Iconic photographer, Peter Oyeyemi Obe, who brought the swampy gloom of the Nigerian civil war horror to public reality via his troubling and tense images, has passed on. He was 81, born 28 December 1932.

News of Mr. Obe’s passage came mid-day Sunday when his nephew, Taiwo Obe, the renowned editor and promoter of the famous professional social media site on LinkedIn, Everythingjournalism, tweeted, quoting family sources, that the ace cameraman had “died at his residence situated on 31 Alhaji Masha/Moronu Street, Surulere, Lagos, Nigeria” adding, “His first son, Femi, made the official announcement.”

PDP Affirms Garba Umar As Taraba Acting-Governor


The Senator Hope Uzodinma committee empanelled by the Peoples Democratic Party to mediate in the state’s political imbroglio has asked the state’s deputy governor to continue in office as acting governor but should take instructions directly from ailing Governor Danbaba Suntai.

The decisions, spokesperson to the Acting Governor, Kefas Sule, told PREMIUM TIMES, were reached Tuesday afternoon after the committee met with Governor Suntai and Deputy Governor Garba Umar.

Addressing the media after the meeting, Mr. Uzodinma said Mr. Umar should continue to rule Taraba based on instructions he receives directly from Mr. Suntai.

14-yr-old Girl Delivers Triplets For Her 16-yr-old Boyfriend


A 14 year old girl in Bungoma County last night safely gave birth to triplets. The school dropout and her babies are in good condition but still in hospital. 

Mwanarahab Wamukoya shocked staff at the Bungoma district hospital not for giving birth to three boys but because of her age. 

Mwanarahab says her and her 16 year old boyfriend tried to get married after she found out she was pregnant but their plan failed.
