Power Generation Was 6000MW In 1990.
Power remains abysmally poor
on October 01, 2013 at 12:00 pm in Sweet Crude
Nigerians scoring the power sector below average, some would say is being very generous in view of the prevalent crisis in the nation’s power sector, which has gone on for decades, unabated. But with the sale of the unbundled power companies from PHCN, to private investors, KUNLE KALEJAYE, writes that there is hope for better days ahead.
There were mixed feelings by Nigerians in describing the power sector 53 years after independence. For some, the sector has gone through an unforgettable process, while others believe that privatisation is the long awaited answer for the sector.

Abubakar Tafawa Balewa 1st Independence Day Speech & Pictures
On Saturday, October 1, 1960, Nigeria became an independent nation.
What follows is Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa's speech delivered at Tafawa
Balewa Square in Lagos at the Independence Ceremony.
Today is Independence Day. The first of October 1960 is a date to which for two years every Nigerian has been eagerly looking forward. At last, our great day has arrived, and Nigeria is now indeed an independent sovereign nation.
Words cannot adequately express my joy and pride at being the Nigerian citizen privileged to accept from Her Royal Highness these Constitutional Instruments which are the symbols of Nigeria’s Independence. It is a unique privilege which I shall remember forever, and it gives me strength and courage as I dedicate my life to the service of our country.

Ordinary Americans during the Great Depression of the 1930s
The Great Depression of the 1930s was an era of such extreme poverty and
dramatic economic decline that it remains permanently etched on our
collective psyche. One major reason for the lasting impression made by
the most widespread and deepest depression of the 20th century is that
it coincided with the growth of photography as an art form and the
period was well-documented as a result. One of the most famous American
photographers documenting the era was Walker Evans, whose beautiful and
sometimes haunting photographs captured such detail and emotion that the
subjects feel more alive and closer to the present than the past.
A mass funeral then a watery grave: Rare picture shows priest praying over Titanic victims before they are buried at sea
This haunting black and white photograph taken on board the Mackay
Bennett body recovery ship following the Titanic disaster shows a mass
funeral for dozens of the dead being buried in the Atlantic Ocean. The
image - which has been discovered a century on from the disaster in 1912
- shows body bags stacked on the windswept deck while two crewman tip
up a stretcher to drop a victim over the side.
Blair Force One: Millionaire former Prime Minister is travelling the world in plush £7,000-an-hour private jet
Tony Blair has been spotted using a top-of-the-range black and gold jet
to fly to engagements as far afield as Bangkok, Sardinia and New York.
The £30million jet is rented out at a cost of £7,000 an hour meaning
that Blair's trip to Bangkok would have cost £90,000. The ex-Labour
leader tried to buy a plane at the taxpayer's expense while in
government but the £80million plan was rejected.
Mona Lisa - Whats so special about it
People say it is the technique he used, the way he painted the eyes, the
way she smiles blah blah blah but me I think the portrait is over
hyped. There are portraits that are more perfect than perfect than Mona
Lisa but didn't get that much recognition. The value of an art is
directly proportional to its publicity whether beautiful not. This is
the same for other form of art like music.
